Creating harmonious, comfortable spaces is at the forefront of home interior design for the new year, capturing the simplicity and serenity that’s essential for well-being.

With that in mind, here’s a look at four trends we’re predicting will take center stage in 2023, helping us feel happier and healthier, along with Hunter Douglas window treatments that pair well with them.

Emotional Comfort

You’ll find the roots of this trend in the 1980s. Plush interiors pair with an easy-going, modern style that highlights rounded forms and curves, for a peaceful vibe. Colors also play a part in emotional comfort, with the spotlight on calming, lighter neutrals and earth tones.

Careful Craftsmanship

Fast furniture, which was popular when society was staying at home during the pandemic, is (thankfully) on the downturn.

In its place is the resurgence of carefully crafted pieces along with artisanal textiles. Tradition, history and nostalgia are melding for luxurious, bespoke looks, including those for window treatments.

Curated Nature

Biophilic design (bringing nature into our homes to bolster our overall health) remains popular. You’ll find nature-inspired motifs and textures in everything from side tables and wallpaper to lamp shades and throw rugs. Warmer wood tones and earthy color palettes round out this trend, fostering a connection to the outdoors.

Mineral Tones and Pastels

Playing off of biophilic design are mineral tones, which are gaining traction in interiors. These hues are rich and warm but muted, similar to natural dyes. We’re also seeing an uptick in pastels, which add a sense of optimism to a space with their light pops of color.

Both mineral tones and pastels evoke coziness in a room while providing a bit more visual interest than shades of white.

You’ll find mineral tones as well as pastels reflected in many Hunter Douglas fabric colors.
