Learn How to Control Your Automated Shades Using Amazon Alexa Voice Commands

Using Amazon Alexa voice commands provides an easy, secure way to control your Alexa-enabled home devices. After you have your PowerView system installed on your window treatments, you'll need the following in order to control your shades with voice commands:

• The PowerView App, a PowerView account, and a PowerView Gateway connected to your home.
• A device enabled with Amazon Alexa connected to your Amazon account.
• The Amazon Alexa App downloaded and installed on your mobile device.

Get Started

Enable integration with Amazon Alexa quickly and directly in the PowerView App.

• Simply navigate to More > Integrations > Add Integration.
• The PowerView App communicates to Alexa over the cloud and prompts you to link accounts.

Using Voice Commands to Control Shades

Use voice commands to control your PowerView window treatments using Amazon Alexa-controlled devices. PowerView works with Alexa to allow you to voice-activate individual shades, rooms of shades, or specific PowerView Scenes in the PowerView App. Simply say “Alexa” followed by “Open,” “Close,” “Activate” or “Turn On” and then the shade name, room or PowerView Scene name. Examples of phrases to control your window treatments include:

"Alexa, open Bedroom Left."

"Alexa, close Living Room."

"Alexa, open the shades."

"Alexa, activate Good Morning."

Tips

• Before attempting to enable Amazon Alexa in the PowerView App, please ensure your PowerView Gateway is connected to your system.
• After you have successfully synced your PowerView Automation system with Amazon Alexa, go to the Alexa App for more information about the PowerView skill.
• In the Alexa App, use the Groups feature in the Devices tab to combine your PowerView Shades and Scenes with other smart devices within your home. You may also use it to group together multiple PowerView Scenes for integrated voice-activated control.
